About Us
“Welcome to Trawler Lights”
A place with a story, a connection to Brixham’s proud fishing heritage, and a warm welcome for all who stay.
Hello, we’re Simon & Jacqui
After many happy years in the Cotswolds, we followed our hearts to the beautiful coast of Devon and the charming fishing town of Brixham.
We fell in love with the harbour, the people, the history and the incredible coastal walks, right on our doorstep.
Our passion is creating a warm, comfortable space where you can relax, explore and make memories that last.
We can’t wait to welcome you to Trawler Lights.

Why “Trawler Lights?”
There’s a story still shared along the quay. In the early mornings, as the harbour slowly came to life and the first trawlers slipped quietly out to sea, a small exchange of lights would appear across the bay.
As Mike headed out from Brixham harbour aboard his trawler, he would flash the boat’s lights towards the shore. Waiting in the town was his friend Rob, who would flash his house lights back in return. Nothing needed to be said. It was simply a tradition — a quiet signal between friends before another day at sea began.
Moments like these were once part of everyday life in Brixham. Long before sunrise, whilst most of the town slept, the harbour was already awake with the sound of gulls, the low hum of engines, and the steady rhythm of boats headed out with the tide.
It was a life built on routine, trust and the kind of friendship that didn’t need words.
Stories like his are not written down, but they live on — in the town, in its people, and in the small traditions that quietly endure.
Trawler Lights was named in tribute to that spirit. Over time, what began as a personal story has become something shared — a place where new memories are made, and where guests can feel a small connection to Brixham’s past, its people, and its way of life.

Continuing the story
When Stuart entrusted Trawler Lights to us, he also entrusted us with its story. We feel incredibly privileged to continue what he and his family created.
Our promise is simple. To care for Trawler Lights with the same pride, warmth and attention that made it so special, while helping every guest create memories of their own.
Whether you’re here for peaceful walks along the South West Coast Path, days exploring Torbay, or simply watching the fishing boats come and go with a glass of wine, we hope you’ll discover what so many of us already know…
